We had them several years ago, however people abused the system and threw just about everything that couldn’t fit into them right around them. This included things that were either too bulky or not meant to be thrown there, like fans and fridges. The current system is designed to separate recyclables and organics from general waste and only collect things that would fit in a bag, yet people keep abusing it regardless. Some Maltese are not trained well enough to respect a system, and will get away without any repercussions

We can not have utilities because all urban public spaces must be dedicated to the storage of private cars for free. We even cut down trees for parking.

The whole island treated as a big rubbish bin that’s why (though there are some out there actually)

Tuga! Rich Sub contractors that “emply” “slaves” don’t want to work during the night. So rubish is everywhere during the day which also “helps” traffic

We actually have public skips in my town, which I find extremely convenient. Honestly, I wish they would roll them out to the whole town (as they are far enough that I need to put them in my car-not gonna walk 10 minutes with a dripping garbage bag lol).
Having said that, there are very few places that they can actually fit without being right under someone’s balcony or in a public square, which would be ugly.
But if they were emptied regularly and kept clean, they can probably fit in several corners. But still, personally speaking, I wouldn’t want one directly under my house.
