I am suprised! I thought there would be more atheist in Azerbaijan then Turkey. So it seems like people are more secular overall in Azerbaijan yet in Turkey there is bigger minority group of non religious people. I would expect the otherwise because of the soviet effects…

Yalan məlumat deyil məncə ən azından Azərbaycan inandırıcı gəldi mənə

  3. In the case of Iraq, it is national

Iraqi Shiites tend to be generally much more religious than their Sunni counterparts, who are more secular and religiously moderate.

(Go to Nineveh, for example, which is an overwhelmingly Muslim area, then go to the city of Najaf, which is an overwhelmingly Shiite area, and you will see the difference)

I wonder if the non religious but not atheist is supposed to be agonistics.
cause a belief in God but not religion falls under the category of **agnostic theism**. The belief in God exists, but there may be a rejection of the institutional orthodoxy and orthopraxy of the religion.

What’s the source of this supposed data? It was either Gallup or Pew Research that had Azerbaijan as among the top 5 most irreligious countries in the world (as in non-practicing) a few years ago. I think after the 2020 war and blatant phobias toward Azerbaijan becoming clear made people identify a little bit more strongly with some things.

It wasn’t just the Soviet influence because many former USSR countries/regions near it are more religious. Azerbaijan was always a center of heterodoxy throughout its history.
