    “Mental health culture” lol.

These people are fucking clowns. I cannot wait to see them all out of work in a few months.

    Edit:

    >In an interview with The Telegraph, he suggested an increased public focus on talking about mental health had led to people effectively self-diagnosing conditions.

That’s because your government has made it so fucking difficult to see a GP, and de facto impossible to be treated for “minor” mental health problems by a specialist. It is hard to tell if conservatives are evil or just really really stupid.

*He said that he was “troubled” by social media trends such as “quiet quitting” and “lazy girl jobs” where youngsters brag online about doing the bare minimum.*

Well, it’s good to see they’ve done a thorough analysis of this issue and aren’t just chasing headlines…

To be fair, there are far too many people self diagnosing and not getting confirmation from professionals.

I’m not downplaying it, but you wouldn’t diagnose yourself with an illness outside of a cold or flu really. You get tests and scans and confirmation from a doctor.

The government by its policies and things such as party gate have harmed mental health for many.

Fuck you. That’s the whole message, fuck you. Can’t wait to see them be obliterated at the next election. He’d rather see more people die from suicide than get help. Prick

‘Too many people are self diagnosing because we crippled the NHS’ is a weird flex

Ministers don’t seem to understand that in order to qualify for “substantial risk” you need documented evidence of having either physically attacked someone in a professional capacity (police, health workers etc) and/or have documented evidence you’ve seriously self harmed or attempted to take your own life.

You can’t simply say “I might harm myself” and have this accepted as is. That’s not how the assessments work. It’s not exactly happy fun times having to disclose this information to a complete stranger and in fact doing so triggers off shame spirals that can then cause people to harm themselves.

I’m also extremely curious as to what “other” is on their graph because that seems far more impactful to the overall picture but I’m assuming it’s data that makes the government look bad so they don’t want to talk about it.

I want to make it very clear to everyone. No one gets disability because they “feel a bit bluesy” and they can’t “deal with the ups and downs of life.”

People absolutely have been ground into misery and the dirt by 12 years of austerity though. That the government is trying to gaslight an entire section of society in order to score a few political points is utterly shameful.

Tell us you’re out of touch with the country, without telling us you’re out of touch with the country.

    Agree with this.
We’ve removed resilience from our culture.

    >In 1987, Stride set up a business specialising in trade exhibitions, conferences and publishing (Venture Marketing Group) which he and his wife jointly controlled before selling it to a United States subsidiary.

Once again, someone who isn’t qualified to speak on this kind of thing sharing their brain bile.
    Just fuck off tory scum.

This just shows how much out of touch the Tories are, have been, and why it’s so inappropriate they continue to legislate our lives.

They come from a distorted reality of privilege in which they construe their political philosophies, offset from the lives of the populace. It’s no wander they think like this.

  12. Jason_Booty on

If the government didn’t proactively invest in the country’s misery a lot fewer people would be concerned about mental health.

  13. TrumpoldDon on

You can just imagine him coming out with “cancer culture” or “heart attack culture” has gone too far, these people should be out doing hard graft, whilst me and my friends get all the money…

  14. Ok-Noise2538 on

“Mr Stride warned that “as a culture, we seem to have forgotten that work is good for mental health” and he suggested people were being signed off too easily.”
That’s a really dismissive attitude to have and I can only assume he’s never had to deal with MH issues personally or he’s one of these “they just need to get over it & get out more!” types.  This is  exactly why many people choose to not seek help when they need it.

  15. INFPguy_uk on

There are two types of people in this world, those who struggled in their lives, and those who are like this individual.

  16. joeythemouse on

Tories need to demonise something. Single mothers, immigrants, the mentally ill.

    These people are filth.

  17. Tbh I grow tired of refuting these claims in a logical, evidence based way. These days it’s far quicker just to succinctly answer “fuck off” and leave it at that before things gather steam.

  18. simondrawer on

Weird that this “culture war” in particular passed the focus group stage. They really are scraping the barrel.

  19. kennyomegabygod on

I mean he is right though, I feel anxious about work today so I’ll take a mental health day, man up and work ya lazy fucks

I wonder if it has anything to do with the digital crack that we spend hours of our lives consuming. It may be too late, but unless something is done to reduce our exposure to these algorithms that are specifically designed to hack in to our reward systems, things will continue to get worse.
